Implementation at IBM
The Vermont Regional Test Center is located on IBM property in Williston, Vermont, ten minutes from the Burlington airport. The two-acre site will accommodate up to 300 kW of PV systems, with the possibility of future expansion. This RTC will provide performance data on PV systems operating at a latitude that sees harsh winters, abrupt variability in weather and moderate to high precipitation year round.
The site will also support collaborative research related to the integration of PV technologies into Vermont’s statewide electrical grid, an effort involving various Vermont stakeholders, including IBM, the University of Vermont, Green Mountain Power, the state of Vermont and others.
Construction of the Vermont RTC will be complete and ready for the installation of PV equipment by early Fall 2013.
