Implementation in Nevada
The Nevada Regional Test Center (NV RTC) is located on a four-acre site at the Las Vegas Valley Water District’s (LVVWD) Elkhorn Reservoir in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Located in the Mohave Desert, this site has a subtropical desert climate, with abundant sunshine and average annual precipitation of only four inches a year.
Technical oversight of this RTC is provided by Sandia National Laboratories, but the overall effort is collaborative, involving Sandia, the LVVWD and the University of Nevada’s Center for Energy Research, which promotes research, information and education on energy topics that reflect regional needs and interests.
The NV RTC will accommodate as many as eight separate installations of PV systems and support a total capacity of 250 kW DC.
